New Year Countdown Series: #6
Let’s have a light break today, after good Christmas party :) Today I won’t show you any crazy UI mock-ups or even hardware schemes. Today I have a simple thought, that develops previous idea with “hot swap” battery. And I will not even hide it under “more” tag so everybody can read it and share opinion. I think that it would be great for future tablet device to have a cradle (or a dock station, whatever you call it) with slot for backup battery charge. Right now I have 2 batteries but I have to swap them into the device in order to charge. It’s really sucks. I know that there are standalone Chinese chargers but I think you’ll agree that out-of-the-box dock will give more points for the device in business and media power-users. I have to admit that it’s not my own idea – I had PDA Loox 720 before n800 and it has such a feature in it’s cradle. So there’s nothing new in it but I don’t understand why manufacturers ignore such a great thing.
Tomorrow I’ll continue to shot UI ideas on you so prepare your brain and hands for hot discussion!

Merry Crhristmas to all my readers! Hope you’re enjoying that day and Santa have a small present for you – one more improvement. But now it’s not UI modification – it’s way cooler and super-handy! Check it out after the break.

New Year Countdown Series: #1
Hello there.
It’s been a long time since we’ve met last time, and many things happened. But I think most of themes were already discussed in many blogs and forums, so it’s not necessary to mention them here. What I want to do now is to conclude this very productive year with a series of 10 posts that will describe 10 UI innovations that I dream to see in upcoming Maemo 5 or so called Fremantle. Some of them are pretty fresh and outstanding, some of them you maybe have already seen before. So let’s begin our New Year Countdown!

Maemo.org logo contest results.
Hello. First of all I’d like to thank all participants that submitted their logos to the contest. Some of them was really awesome, some of them were not (let’s be honest some of were real crap but who cares :D). But at last we have refreshed logo, made by Glaubert Oliveira

Though there is a rule that “winners are not judged” but I can’t not to say that I’m really surprised with that choice. And I really can explain why.
This logo is really awesome, Glaubert have done great job at visual interpreting of the ideas of the community but I can just describe what I see here. I can see “.org” part written in ordinary font somewhere under huge “maemo”. I guess this is a representation of actual community part in platform developing. I can see slightly modernized but basically same colors, which I guess represents inability to change. Also I don’t got how infinity cycle represents openess, and even meeting of minds. You know, tablets are sometimes falling into such loop if kernel is flashed incorrectly.
As for me, there is the only one winner: it’s Peres with “goggle guy”.
This is so fricking awesome that I just can’t find appropriate words :)

By the way, what was your number one in that contest?

Lets Talk!
Hello everyone.
Today I want to make a very small post. it will not be about UI or design. It will be about community. Maybe you heard about Maemo.org logo contest (it’s coming to the deadline soon so post your submissions!) and i’ve submited some logos too. i’ve put very much sense in each, to make maemo.org community deeper and even more sophisticated. One of the ideas is discussion between community members. This is great process that is very attractive for all developers and users, because together they can acheive great goals and create fabulous products. I’ve made this blog not only for posting interesting UI ideas but generaly for discussion! Your opinion is very important for me and for all of us. Please, feel free to express your thoughts about anything you see here. I’ve disabled “registred only” posting so everyone is extremely welcome to express yourself.
Thanks for reading.
