As I promissed, today I’d like to present you my first, and lets hope not last, theme for Fremantle and also the default theme for Mer called Marina.
Dark, a bit glossy but calm blueish theme, packed with loopable wallpaper. First 3rd-party theme to be designed from scratch, every UI element is hand drawn (except for loading “flower” and navigation icons :). I really wanted to give it a finished professional look, hope you’ll feel it.
Right now it’s heading to Extras repository and you can vote right here to promote it even faster. You can also report bugs (if any) here or in the t.m.o. discussion thread. But I hope I’ve cleaned all of these, even though it was a tough experience without actual devic, thanks all of you who helped with them.
Anyway, I hope you’ll use it, thanks to Xisdibik some screenshots are waiting for you after the break.
And thanks for reading.
This theme is simply wicked!!! Thanks for the great work

These theme is good. I have taken my phone to a customer care for flashing because I was downloading mymenu and it made my phone go dead. I will load this theme immediately I get my phone back and also the theme is available for downloading. Can someone teach me how to flash my phone so that I can do that myself next time when it goes dead?

Directions for re flashing are available here. It’s fairly easy to do and takes very little time. > http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware

Skyler, thank you for writing to me about the flashing however, I do not know how to do it. I downloaded all the necessary files for the flashing including the flasher and the new update but I don’t know how to go about the command thing. This is my first time using commands. Even that, I was able to type everything as it appears at http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware but nothing happens. The command page (black page) only flashes. I need your help please. Thank you.
Comment by George Rhyno — February 2, 2010 @ 10:53
First off, are you using Windows, Mac, or Linux to flash the N900? I’m assuming Linux. If that is the case, where does it (the command page) flash? Can you copy and paste what you see in the black window?

I like this theme, the blue is soothing and elegant. Thanks for your work.

Thanks, this is a wonderful theme (as I expected from all the screenshots so far – itMs nice to be able to have it installed on the device). Really gorgeous.
Just one feature request if I may: Please a the AppMenu indicator to the titlebar (the default theme has a blue triangle pointing down), because this helps the discoverability of the app menu, so users do not have to find out by trial and error.
Again, beautiful theme, and even better that Mer now has a wonderful default theme :)

The best blue theme I’ve seen so far.
The Gear on the edit desktop tab is still off-color though.

Excellent theme, how do you create a theme anyway? I suppose it’s not easy but i would like to look into it as i can design stuff myself..
Thanks for the theme.

Well, yo should look into Maemo Theme Maker:

It’s a good starting point for beginners.

Very nicely done. Thanks!

This theme somehow breaks the latest vnc. I don’t know if it’s the themes fault or the vnc’s but when i switch themes it works. It causes the bar where i enter the ip address to become very thick and blacked out, so that i cannot enter any information into it.
Comment by Boris — February 1, 2010 @ 21:29
Yep, this bug is already fixed, please update your theme to version 1.03.
Comment by Andrew Zhilin — February 1, 2010 @ 23:44

Sharp and Crisp looks always WIN hands down against any half-baked attempt at 3D implementation.

how do you download this theme? its not in maemo-extras.
Comment by nninehundred — February 3, 2010 @ 22:52
You can download .deb package from here:
http://maemo.org/packages/package_instance/view/fremantle_extras-testing_free_armel/hildon-theme-marina/1.05/
or just enable Extras-Testing repository if you’d like to test some additional software.
But be careful, Testing software can harm your tablet’s software, it will bark and jump all the time.
